Mixed martial arts fans ran out of superlatives in describing the strawweight title bout between Weili Zhang and Joanna Jedrzejczyk.
The strawweight pair fought like there’s no tomorrow when they co-headline the UFC 248 fight card at the T-mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday night.
Zhang, the first Chinese champion in the UFC history, defeated the fighter regarded as the ‘greatest strawweight of all-time’ by a hair as they delivered an instant classic in what many fans considered as a strong ‘Fight of the Year’ contender.
The Polish challenger fought with a brutal forehead injury, which he sustained in the latter part of the second round, and managed to push the defending champ to her limits up to the final round.
Regardless of the results, MMA fans have praised both fighters for putting up an ‘insane’ and ‘purely violent’ fight in Las Vegas.
